Since November 2012, The Lotus Project for Women Veterans program has provided homes to women Veterans and their children. The program is designed to coach women to increase their self-sufficiency by providing life skills training, redevelop the interpersonal skills and career coaching. In 2015, Ms. Bush grew the Women Veterans Department to include emergency shelter and homeless preventions services which increase the budget from $500,000 to $3.5 million dollars in support services for women veterans. The lofty intention for the program is to end homelessness amongst veteran women permanently and poverty reduction. This innovative and unique program is one of few in the country the exclusively addresses the unique and complicated needs of women veterans.
